A MN Bug and Pest Spray technician will come out with a sprayer, mister and/or blower that sprays tiny droplets of insecticide deep into the area needing treatment. A typical time to do gnat spraying would be as soon as you start to see gnats in your yard. Ideally treatments are done in the evening or early morning to avoid wind and to have the greatest likelihood of gnat spraying while the gnats are active. This treatment will greatly reduce the gnat population and your likelihood of gnats buzzing around your face and/or your being bitten. Commonly gnats are found in your lawn as they live and reproduce in decaying organic material such as the thatch in your lawn. Gnat spraying the lawn for them would be highly effective, however it would last a shorter period of time compared to barrier treatments for flies and mosquitoes. When the lawn is mowed, much of the insecticide is relocated to a less optimal location. Ideally, gnat spraying a lawn would be after a fresh mowing to give the greatest amount of time until your next mowing.
